A to Z Challenge - E

The Blogging from A to Z Challenge is to post everyday (except Sunday) in the month of April 2016 starting with the letter A and going all the way to Z. The theme I chose is Genealogy Tips. At the end I will give a related post from my blog Genealogy: Beyond the BMD.

E is for Elderly

The elderly of today did not grow up with electronics, may be going a little deaf or blind, so don't partiularly want to watch TV... but they love to talk. The past is vivid to them and most love to tell their stories.

If you have the opportunity to go to the home town of your ancestors, try to make a visit to a home for the elderly... perhaps someone is there that knew your ancestors and has stories to tell you!

  3. Like Sharon I regret not asking more questions. Asking other old people is an ingenious idea.

  4. Wise advice! I doubt there's a genealogist alive who doesn't wish they'd asked more questions or listened to stories.

  5. Off to visit Mum and her mates in the dementia unit today. Sadly it's too late to gather stories there. We must heed this advice.

  6. I love hearing stories from elderly. A great source for wisdom and insight. It is fast approaching when the elderly of tomorrow will be former tech geeks.
